Running your first scan

A scan is how Eleor measures your visibility in AI assistants — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Grok. Your first one takes about two minutes to set up and a few minutes to run.

Step 1 — Enter your website

From your dashboard, click Run a Scan and enter your website's URL. Eleor pre-fills as much as it can from your site — business name, industry, location — so most fields are a review, not a chore.

Step 2 — Set your business context

This is the most important step, because it shapes every AI prompt we run:

  • Target audience — who your ideal client is, in your own words. This becomes "Persona 1" and drives the questions we test.
  • Primary service area — Local, Regional, National, or International. A local plumber and a global SaaS get completely different questions and recommendations, so pick honestly.
  • What are you really competing for? — optional, but powerful. If your customers would do the job themselves (or just pick a different type of solution entirely), tell us — we'll test those conversations too.

Step 3 — Run it

Click through to start the scan. Here's what happens:

  1. Crawl — we read up to 200 pages of your site.
  2. Prompt testing — we generate realistic buyer questions (never naming your business) and ask them to the AI engines, recording whether you appear.
  3. Scoring — readiness, perception, competitor share of voice, citations, E-E-A-T, and reputation are analyzed.
  4. Playbook — a prioritized action plan is generated automatically from your results.

A scan usually completes in 10 minutes. You'll land on the Overview, and every tab in the sidebar drills into a different dimension of the results.

What a scan costs

Scans are paid with credits from your monthly plan allowance. A standard scan costs about 100 credits; adding extra personas increases the cost since each persona runs its own set of prompts. The exact cost is always shown before you confirm.

Tips for a useful first scan

  • Fill in competitors if you know them — the Competitor Share of Voice analysis is one of the most revealing tabs.
  • Add your review/testimonial page URLs in the settings — they strengthen your E-E-A-T evidence.
  • Don't over-polish the setup. Run the first scan, look at the results, then refine your context and re-scan. Comparing scans over time is where the real insight lives.
